Child Trafficking… Man of God in Prison Custody

A private criminal summon that came before Magistrate Mohamed Santigie Bangura of Court No. 1 Siaka Stevens Street Freetown of child trafficking involving a man of God, Reverend Emmanuel Nylander, on Monday 13 August 2018 on three counts of engaged in trafficking persons contrary to Section 1 and 2 of the Human Trafficking Act No. 7 of 2005.

 

According to the indictment on count 1, the accused on diverse dates between November and May 2017 at No. 14 William Street Portee Wellington in Freetown did engage in trafficking Edna Annie Vandy and 8 others.

On count 2, according to the indictment, the accused on diverse dates between November and May 2017 at No. 14 William Street Portee Wellington in Freetown did transport Edna Annie Vandy and 8 others to Italy.

On count 3, according to the indictment, the accused on diverse dates between November and May 2017 at No. 14 William Street Portee Wellington in Freetown did transport Edna Annie Vandy and 8 others to Italy.

The accused is represented by lawyer Musa Bayraytay who applied for bail, but it was objected by the Prosecuting Counsel lawyer Musa Pious Hermor Sesay who told the court that the offences are very serious and if the accused is granted bail he will interfere and jump bail as he is a flight risk.

In his ruling, Magistrate Bangura addressed both counsels that he has to study the file before taking decision on the issue of bail, so the accused should be remanded in custody until 16 August 2018.
